And this is why I believe...........
Santa has made himself real to me and not always in the traditional way.
There are many of Christmas eves that I saw that sleigh filled, bursting out full, with toys and it made it's delivery to our house every year, until..........
The sleigh was a yellow and white station wagon that was filled, after the toys were unwrapped by 5 excited kids, the loading point was at 1034 Arthur Avenue. Mom would walk the 5 of us home, since there was no room for passengers, as Dad would guide that yellow sleigh to 1131 Arthur to unload the loot from a Christmas Eve at Grandpa and Grandma Jake's house.
Until 1975 and one of our Santa's had departed, that full sleigh ended up full with 5 kids, mom & dad and hands holding socks. Thus the tradition of the sock giving had begun, it was socks from that year on that we received from Grandma Gatesman.
When I was maybe 4, maybe 6, it was the first year that I had my own room, so it was after the addition was finished on our house. Santa came to visit me. He sat on the edge of my bed with his full white beard and red and white hat & coat. I remember in a gentle tone he asked me if I knew who he was, I looked up at him and saw the twinkle in his eye and the loving smile spread wide across his face, I know who he was but at that moment he really was Santa Claus. In the shadows behind stood another, in a long night gown with her hair done up in a beehive style, ever so quite she watched as Santa tucked me in that night.

Oh, you must be referring to the same Santa who was wearing my dad's watch one Christmas eve at great grandma's house on Bohlander Avenue (that's great-great grandma to Desi and Donna)
